THE BEST SUNDAY ROASTS IN THE COTSWOLDS

Sunday in the Cotswolds is best spent by a crackling fire, a pint in hand and a plate piled high with roast beef, roast potatoes, filled Yorkshires and gravy that knows no end. It’s ritual as much as meal where families and friends gathered, dogs curled at your feet and the day melting away with every bite.

THE HORSE AND GROOM
BOURTON ON THE HILL

Recently awarded a Bib Gourmand for their food, Sundays are something special at the Horse and Groom since the addition of the their three-meat sharing roasts!

All of their roasts are "double spud" (roast and mash), and if you order the beef or sharing roast, your Yorkshires will be filled with rich beef shin.

THE HOLLOW BOTTOM
GUITING POWER

As the new younger brother of The Horse and Groom at Bourton on the Hill and The Halfway at Kineton, you would expect a similar roast at The Hollow Bottom. However, when we visited it was like a pub from 20 years ago. A full restaurant with tables full of roasts and an overflowing bar of day drinkers, walkers dogs and families and friends enjoying the rebirth of of the Cotswolds. favourite pubs.

​THE BELL INN

LANGFORD

The Bell Inn at Langford was the first that duo Peter Creed and Tom Noest opened, focussing on good simple pub food with a straightforward wine list, spirits and beer selection.

Since then, they have launched three more (The Lamb at Shipton, The Fox at Broadwell and, most recently, The Sherborne Arms in Nothleach) and all offer a cracking Sunday roast and wonderful atmosphere.

THE HALFWAY AT KINETON
KINETON

Since taking over the pub in January, The Halfway at Kineton has become one of the most popular foodie spots in the Cotswolds.

Their "double spud" (roast and mash) roasts with brisket-filled Yorkshire Puddings are the thing of dreams.

The Foston’s Ash Inn is the kind of pub that seems built for Sundays in the autumn and winter. The fire seems to always be roaring, the welcome’s easy, and the roast is everything you want it to be, ​generous slices of perfectly cooked meat, crisp roasties, filled Yorkshires and a decent glass of wine.
