INSIDE THE DOUBLE RED DUKE
Boasting 19 beautiful bedrooms, five bars and lounges and a menu centred around cooking over fire and grills, The Double Red Duke is the latest addition to husband and wife duo Sam and Georgie Pearman's Country Creatures portfolio, which also includes The Chequers at Churchill and The Swan at Ascott-under-Wychwood.
Located near the charming village of Bampton of Downton Abbey fame, this seventeenth-century Cotswold stone, wisteria-clad coaching inn has undergone extensive renovations, including an extension for extra hotel bedrooms, more dining space and a delightful new garden room.
With a significant focus on food, they have secured the services of butcher and founder of Hawksmoor, Richard Turner to work alongside Head Chef, Richard Sandiford (ex-Hawksmoor) on a menu dedicated open-fire cooking and large cuts of meat, whole fish dishes and awesome Sunday roasts.
There will be a 14-seat kitchen counter where guests can eat at the heart of the action while watching the chefs cook as well as a feasting room that seats 12 people.
The bedrooms have all been decorated individually using British and local designers with bespoke pieces mixed with antique furniture. The sinks and baths are handmade with the taps made using a technique dating back to the 1800s.
In summer months you can relax in the wonderful gardens, explore nearby William Morris-famed Kelmscott and enjoy walks in the glorious surrounding countryside. During the winter period, there are many open fires to nestle up to.
We take you inside Oxfordshire's hottest new establishment.
