TOP 50 PUBS IN THE COTSWOLDS 2025
From proper boozers to others that offer the best food in the area, the pub is one of life's greatest cultural pleasures and somewhere that should be frequented often and treasured forever. We are exceptionally lucky to have a wealth of incredible ones here in the Cotswolds.
The pub means different things to many people. It can be a place to meet friends for a drink, somewhere to enjoy a meal, a stop off on a dog walk or, perhaps, an excuse for an overnight stay in the countryside. Whatever the reason, it's imperative that we keep supporting them.
We love writing this guide and hearing from people who try to tick off the full fifty throughout the year. It is purely a list of our favourite pubs that we think people should visit. For the last two years running, the guide has attracted over 200,000 unique readers which simply blows our mind!
This year, we have done things a tiny bit differently. If a pub group owns multiple pubs with a similar model, we have picked our favourite two to free up some space to shout about lots of other gems that the Cotswolds has to offer.
And finally, we make absolutely no money from creating this guide (yes, we know we're idiots) and no pub has paid us to feature. We feel that a sponsor would ruin the authenticity of everything that we set out to achieve. We will see for next year!
So, with all that said, here is a list of our favourite pubs in the Cotswolds.
Fifty just isn't enough and we know we will have left out some amazing places. We have tried to include a good mix as well as adding lots of new entries for our loyal readers to explore, and give these pubs the recognition we feel they all deserve.
Long live the local!

THE HORSE AND GROOM
BOURTON ON THE HILL
After years in the wilderness, the Horse and Groom in Bourton on the Hill was bought by Donnington Brewery and reopened in June by Nathan Eades and Liam Goff as a sister to The Halfway at Kineton.
Affectionately known as "The Pub on the Hill", the pub was described by Giles Coren as "Almost certainly the best pub in England".
Although that isn't realistically true, it does have all the components that make a wonderful pub, including a menu full of high-quality cooking, local meat, game and their double spud sharing roasts on a Sunday, local ales, great value for money pie, steak, burger and half priced wine nights, charming bedrooms and a stunning garden with deck chairs and beautiful views for warmer months of the year.
The pub was awarded a coveted Bib Gourmand by Michelin in February 2025. One of just two pubs in the Cotswolds to have that accolade alongside The Bull at Charlbury.
