THE PLOUGH INN
COLD ASTON
NR, NORTHLEACH, GLOUCESTERSHIRE, GL54 3NB
coldastonplough.com

Located a couple of miles outside of Bourton on the Water, The Plough Inn at Cold Aston is a charming country pub in the heart of the village.

Situated on the village green, the pub dates back to the 17th century and in the last 5 years has benefited from a huge restoration creating more space to eat, drink and relax.

Entering the pub will take you into the the flagstone-floored bar area with exposed oak beams and a roaring woodburner in winter months. There a few tables, oak barrels or chairs around the fire where you can enjoy a more informal drink or bite to eat.

The actual bar separates the bar area and the restaurant. The pub profits from being a free house with a guest craft ale tap, a focus on gins from the South West and many other sours, saisons, spirits and pale ales from around the Cotswolds, UK and further afield. You will also find Guinness, a Cotswold Pilsner, brewed just a couple miles away, and a cider on tap.

As you walk past the bar you will reach the dining room with a mix of tables of various shapes and sizes. The menu changes with the seasons with local meats, game and produce featuring heavily in some wonderfully crafted dishes that offer something for everyone at good value for money. Look out for their steak night on a Thursday with two 8oz steaks and a bottle of wine for just £30. With every good meal there should be good wine and that's exactly what The Plough offers. There is an influence towards organic wines with special care to always have two whites, two reds and an orange which are natural wines. Across the whole list you will find a good range of mainly old world wines as well as ones from California, Australia, Lebanon and even the Cotswolds!

Upstairs you will find three dog friendly en-suite double rooms varying in size and perfect for those looking to explore the Cotswolds or just enjoy a few nights away. Each has the same country charm as the pub with exposed beams and Cotswold Stone walls.

In warmer months you can gather outside on the raised decking area or on the patio sun-trap outside the pub. This is a lovely place to enjoy a meal on summer evenings.

The Plough Inn at Cold Aston is back to its best. It is a fantastic pub with the community at heart. The food and drink is as alluring as the wonderful welcome and atmosphere that people receive as they walk through the door.
