After a make-over in 2015, the 16th century Bull Inn in Charlbury has become one of the most stunning pubs in the Cotswolds and is a magical place to enjoy a great meal or a weekend stay - whichever you choose, the experience will be just as memorable.
As you enter the pub, you instantly sense the home from home feel with a friendly welcome and relaxed surroundings. The stunning bar is bordered by beautiful exposed Cotswold stone and demonstrates the exceptional decor that runs throughout. The bright bar area offers a mixture of spacious tables and a lounge with a stylish mix of upholstered seating and an open fire which is perfect to sit in front of with a drink and a paper in winter months. Behind the bar you will find some real ales on tap, a very good selection of bottled and draught beers and lagers, a brilliant wine list with many available by the glass and an option to build your own gin and tonics. These can be enjoyed inside the pub or in their courtyard garden at the rear when the sun is shining.
Food at The Bull can be enjoyed all day every day. When we say all day, we mean all day as breakfast is available from 8am through to dinner which is served until 9.30pm. The breakfast menu includes everything from cereals and pastries to avocado and poached eggs to a full English as well as their renowned Bloody Mary's! Lunch and dinner share the all day a la carte menu which boasts a superb selection of light bites, salads, fresh fish, the pie of the day, pub classics and dishes from the grill including the famous Bull Burger. The Sunday lunch menu also offers a variety of lighter dishes as well as three mains and a choice of three roasts and an smaller sized option for children. There is also a children's menu that is served all day everyday with all mains at £6. They have literally thought of everything!
Leighterton is steeped in history with the pub being the only "Royal Oak" that is situated directly on the Monarch's Way - the 615 mile route that Charles II took when fleeing Parliamentary troops after the Battle of Worcester in 1651. The village boasts the largest Neolithic burial mound in the Cotswolds and a 13th century church. A nearby cemetery is the resting place for Australian airmen who were stationed at RAF Leighterton and died during the First World War. The British Legion hold an ANZAC memorial service and parade in the village every April.
