A LITTLE BIT COTSWOLDS

OCTOBER 9, 2017

In a week where he and his new best mate Kem entered the charts with their song Little Bit Leave It and he caused a storm on social media with his World Mental Health Awareness campaign,  we catch up with Chris Hughes to discuss life after Love Island and his love of The Cotswolds.
You have lived in the Cotswolds all of you life. How would you describe it in 3 words?

Relaxing. Beautiful. Spacious
What do you love most about the Cotswolds?

I love it more now as it's the place I can escape away from London where I seem to be mostly every day.
What is a standard night out for you?

Away from a PA appearance it would involve a meal out with Olivia, or the family and friends and enjoying a glass of red wine or a beer. Nothing too mental!
What is your favourite pub?
It has to be The Hollow Bottom. I love my racing and it's a good racing pub. Good food, good people, good times, good vibes.
What is your favourite restaurant?

I love the Dormy House Hotel. Have done a few family meals there and it's always good and really smart.
Where would you recommend someone who had never visited the Cotswolds to visit?

I would say Lower Slaughter. There's a beautiful walk along the river. I would also say Bourton on the Water around Christmas time has a tree up in the middle of the river which is very colourful and beautiful around Christmas.
How do you relax away from your new hectic lifestyle?

I like getting my feet up and watch a bit of sport, eat nice food and chill out either back home in the Cotswolds, at Olivia's in Surrey or at her parents in Somerset.
Your love for horse racing has been widely publicised. Do you fancy yourself as a jockey?

I've always fancied myself as a jockey, I'm actually not a bad rider to be fair. Maybe one day I will get a ride in the Foxhunters at Cheltenham if I can find a horse to sit on! I was actually asked to ride in a charity event in November at Ascot which is unfortunately a bit too soon which would have been good fun.
And you also love your golf?

Yep. I've been a member at Naunton Downs for the last few years and play up there whenever I am back. I have played at Gleneagles recently too which is stunning and in the Pro-am at Close House which was an incredible experience.

So what would it be? A putt to win the Ryder Cup or riding the winner in the Gold Cup?

What a question that is! That's tough but I would have to putt the winning putt in the Ryder Cup to beat the USA.. I think that's the way it's got to be even though coming up the Cheltenham hill in front and winning would be some feeling but to knock the winning putt in would be unbelievable. I'm actually torn between the two!
What is the best thing you have done since Love Island?

Releasing a song is pretty crazy and being signed by Sony and having a top 20 hit which is still climbing up the charts. Sporting wise, meeting Ian Poulter and having a round of golf with him is a huge highlight. I'm not sure there is anything better than having a round of golf with a Ryder Cup legend!
And the most random?

Definitely going on a Ghost Hunting programme on Channel 5. It was an odd thing for me to do as I have phobias of all those kind of things but so I overcame a bit of a challenge there.

and some quickfire questions..
Favourite film?

Pretty Woman or Point Break
Favourite meal?

I do love a full English but, it's got to be the roast chicken that Olivia cooks!
Favourite song?

A Little Bit Leave It by Chris and Kem!
Tweed or Denim?

Denim
Cows or sheep?

Oh that's easy, definitely cows!
Club or pub?

I've been in too many nightclubs since I've been out so would definitely say pub!
Landrover or Lamborghini?

Lamborghini.. [Olivia questions his answer]... It might be a Landrover.. It depends where I am! Yer Lamborghini.
And finally, London or The Cotswolds?

The Cotswolds over London all day!
